Rock Canyon Bank now supports Apple Pay

Here at Rock Canyon Bank, we love new opportunities to invest in cutting-edge technology. We embrace the opportunity to provide the best services and technologies available to our clients.

That is why we are very excited to announce that Rock Canyon Bank is now offering Apple Pay for all Rock Canyon Bank debit and credit cards. While many large banking chains are currently offering this service, we are one of the first local banks in Utah to do so.

Apple Pay is a breakthrough contactless (and secure) payment technology that consolidates your debit and credit cards on your mobile Apple devices. Instead of carrying your cards with you wherever you go, you can simply and securely pay through a store’s contactless payment terminal.

It’s Easy to Setup

Apple Pay setup is easy since it utilizes Apple’s existing Passbook app. The card linked to your Apple ID is automatically your default Apple Pay card, but you can always choose a different card when paying. You can also change your default card anytime by going to Settings > Passbook & Apple Pay.

It’s Easy to Use

In-store Apple Pay is currently available with iPhone 6 (and iPhone 6 plus) as well as Apple Watches.

Instead of carrying your payment cards with you wherever you go, just hold your iPhone near a contactless reader with your finger on the Touch ID (you don't even have to wake up your display). A subtle vibration and beep will let you know the payment has gone through.

With your Apple Watch, simply double-click the side button and hold the display up to the contactless reader. A gentle tap and beep confirm that you payment has sent.

Tons of stores use Apple Pay

Apple Pay is currently supported in over 65 major business chains, with more being added every day. These locations currently include a vast collection of restaurants, grocery stores, boutiques, and retailers, such as McDonalds, Whole Foods, Walgreens, Dan’s Fresh Market, Subway, American Eagle Outfitters, and more. Even more robust is the list of apps that currently accept Apple Pay, such as airbnb, groupon, Target, Uber, and many (many) more. App purchases through Apple Pay are available through iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, as well as on your iPad Air 2 or iPad mini 3.

It’s secure

Apple Pay doesn't ever share credit or debit card numbers with anyone (not even retailers).

In fact, Apple doesn't even store your card numbers on Apple servers. Instead, when you add a card number to your account it is assigned a secure Device Account Number which is then encrypted and stored in the Secure Element, a dedicated chip in your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch devices.

When you make a purchase, this Device Account Number along with a transaction-specific dynamic security code, is used to process your payment, keeping your card and personal identity information even more secure than ever.

You can protect your accounts even if you lose your device

If your iPhone or iPad is ever lost or stolen, you can put your device in Lost Mode through Find My iPhone to easily and securely suspend Apple Pay, or you can wipe your device completely clean. You also can also control Apple Pay through your iCloud account.
